Beyond  Yoga

Beyond Yoga is founded upon the community that was previously known as One Yoga Trinidad. With absolute gratitude to the One Yoga international family we move towards new and exciting opportunities as BeyondYogaTv.

Under the continued guidance of lead teacher Troy Hadeed we will nurture the warmth and love of our physical studio in Trinidad as we expand our online platform and offerings

Our Philosophy

Beyond Yoga represents a depth of practice that transcends the posture and encourages us to take our practice beyond the yoga mat, and into our lives. With an emphasis on an intimate relationship with breath, graceful movement, and intentional focus, our intention is to reconnect practitioners to something larger than the individual self. We believe that it is only in moving beyond our individual identity, beyond labels, beyond narratives, and even Beyond what we think Yoga looks like, that we can actually become yoga, the embodiment of absolute Union and infinite love.

Regardless of anyone’s age, level of fitness, race, religion or social status Beyond Yoga aims to create a warm, welcoming, and loving space where everyone can have the opportunity to benefit from the intelligence of their breath, the peace of their mind, and a deeper relationship to their unique understanding of God.

If I did not believe that the practice of Yoga deepens one’s relationship to their understanding of God, and increases our capacity to love one another, I would walk away from it immediately.

Troy Hadeed

Through a commitment to his practice and study, Troy has tapped into a depth of practice that transcends the physical form of Asana and brings practitioners into a new relationship with their breath as a form of Spirit. Troy encourages practitioners to view their practice as a personal prayer and is continuously aiming to create a space that is available and comfortable for all, regardless of their faith, age, or physical limitations. With mindful, intentional movements Troy’s teaching brings a fresh and powerful dimension into today’s yoga class that bridges the gap between the pure essence of Yoga and today’s disconnected world.

Jade Ammon

I am a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and Yoga Teacher. I have been blessed with the opportunity to study with Ryan Leier, Troy Hadeed, Srivatsa Ramaswami, Seane Corn and continue to learn from everyone who is courageous enough to step onto their mats. I believe that as you practice yoga regularly, this subtle sense of feeling good gradually grows into something so natural that it becomes rooted in your lifestyle- in the way you think, what you say, how you react to situations, and how you carry yourself. So much so that it carries over into your deepest longings, aspirations and feelings, thereby restoring optimism, meaning, and the purpose of life itself. My goal is to emphasize the steady connection and healing power of the breath and to cultivate a continuous & mindful investigation of what qualities we are truly cultivating in our lives.

Jacob Cino

I love to share a variety of techniques and lineages. My classes can be therapeutic but also have a flowing athletic nature that would build strength and flexibility. Using the rhythm of the breath to guide our movements is an intense mindfulness practice.  Looking at the student’s individual needs and creating a practice that is right for them is one of the gifts of teaching. Yoga has been a part of my life for over 30 years.  The first real deepening of my study was in the Sivananda Ashram in Southern India in 1996 and then I was certified as a teacher with Trinity Yoga Vancouver in 2007.  Numerous teachers in Dance, Yoga, and Meditation has helped me broaden my knowledge of the body and mind and widened my ideas of what a Yoga practice can be.  I am a Canadian-born World Citizen that fell in love with Trinidad and decided to make it home.  Besides teaching I express myself with art, choreography, music, and good food.

Asha Wadada

I use my practice to keep focused and steady; Physically, Mentally, and Emotionally.  It has helped me grow stronger, more flexible, and certainly more carefree, on and off my mat. Yoga is my physical form of prayer, my connection to myself. I completed my 200 hr training, with One Yoga in Victoria BC, but I am forever a student of the practice, learning from everyone I encounter in and out of the yoga world. In my classes, I combine a sweet, but sweating vinyasa flow with soothing heartbeat rhythms, to create an ‘experience’ that will guide you inward. With the hope, you step off your mat feeling refreshed, nurtured, and balanced.

Doreen Hamelsmith

Each opportunity to teach yoga since 2011, offers her own healing and has opened new and positive paths to support the community. Emerging from personal experience of motherhood, she also happily supports women as a Prenatal Yoga teacher, a certified Doula, and Placenta Encapsulator. Grateful, that on each path, she gets to experience and shares the intimate and powerful breath.

Testimonials

See what our students are saying

Troy’s teachings and guidance have helped me create a practice that I cherish and I’ve loved every uncomfortable minute of it. The time spent in practice over the last year has changed my life and helped me reconnect to god and a path of spiritual inquiry that I had lost sight of. I cannot tell you how grateful and thankful I am for these teachings and wisdom.
